Welcome to Incatrekkers, a Peruvian tour operator founded by Juvenal Iturriaga, who was born and raised near Urubamba in the Sacred Valley. Since 2010, we have been organizing customized treks, hikes, and multi-adventure tours to Machu Picchu and the surrounding highlands—with deep respect for Andean culture and the region's natural environment. No two travelers are alike. That's why we plan each trip around you: your interests, your pace, and your physical condition. From porter to tour guide to founder

Juvenal "Juve" Iturriaga was born in the Yanahuara community near Urubamba, where his family grew corn, potatoes, and vegetables for their own consumption. His native language is Quechua, and he learned Spanish in primary school. For secondary school, he moved to Urubamba on his own and financed his education by working as a porter on the classic Inca Trail for about two years.

His dream was to become a tour guide. So he moved to Cusco, studied tourism and English, and supported himself with various jobs. After five years, he was a state-certified Peruvian tour guide. Since 2004, he has been leading travelers along the Inca Trail and along many remote paths through the highland communities from which our porters come.

On these journeys, he witnessed how harsh life in the Peruvian mountains can be – and that many tour operators were foreign-owned, resulting in a large portion of tourism revenue leaving the country. This led him to found Incatrekkers: a company that keeps revenue in the region, provides fair employment, and invests in Andean communities – for economic opportunities, cultural preservation, and environmental protection.
