ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco-Ollantaytambo-KM104-Wiñay Wayna-Sun Gate-Machu Picchu-Cusco

With our special Day 1 adventure, Cusco-Ollantaytambo-KM104-Wiñay Wayna-Sun Gate-Machu Picchu-Cusco, we set out on an incredible tour through the heart of Peru. As we take you away in our private transportation to the Ollantaytambo train station at 4:30 a.m., let the magic begin.
Take a 90-minute train ride through the stunning beauty of the Urubamba River to Km104, the starting point of your trekking adventure at 2,050 meters (6,725 feet). Take the picturesque footbridge over the Urubamba River and go through the checkpoint to visit the fascinating Chachabamba, your first Inca site.

There's a moderate climb for the following two hours with beautiful views of the Urubamba River. There's a little higher climb after that, but the reward is a beautiful cascade. Capture the breathtaking Wiñay Wayna, which is surrounded by the abundant flora and fauna of the Peruvian rainforest, at 2,650 meters (8,694 feet) below this cascade.

From Wiñay Wayna, follow the mostly level trail until you reach the Sun Gate, which offers the stunning first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Once you've captured this famous moment, take a 40-minute descent to the famed viewpoint to get your picture-perfect shot of the citadel.

Take advantage of Machu Picchu's slower hours by arriving in the afternoon to capture breathtaking images and enjoy a thorough two-hour guided tour of the site's main features. After the tour, take an evening bus to Aguas Calientes and then a train to Ollantaytambo at 6:20 p.m. In order to get you back to your Cusco hotel by 9:40 p.m., our private driver is waiting for you.

Make lifelong memories by fully experiencing the splendors of Machu Picchu and the surrounding areas.
