ITINERARY:

Day1: Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Km104 to Machu Picchu.

Start your adventure with the convenience of a hotel pickup at 5:30 am. Our private transportation will whisk you away to the Ollantaytambo train station. Enjoy the scenic train ride, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes long, to Km 104, situated at an altitude of 2050 m (6,725 ft), where our epic trail begins.

Over the course of approximately 3 hours, prepare to be mesmerized by the stunning landscapes as we ascend to the remarkable Inca site of Wiñay Wayna, aptly named 'Forever Young', at 2650 m (8,694 ft). Explore the magnificence of this ancient site before continuing our hike for about 1 hour to the revered 'Inti Punku' or Sun Gate, perched at 2720 m (8,923 ft). Here, the panoramic view of Machu Picchu at 2400 m (7,874 ft) will take your breath away.

Descending from the Sun Gate, we'll make our way to Machu Picchu on foot, guided by our knowledgeable expert guide. Capture postcard-perfect pictures from the classic viewpoint, offering a breathtaking perspective of the entire archaeological site. Afterward, we'll board a comfortable bus to Aguas Calientes, located at an altitude of 2040 m (6,692 ft). Here, enjoy a delightful dinner and unwind for the night.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes,Machu Picchu  and Back to Cusco

Rise early and treat yourself to a delicious breakfast at the hotel before catching one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. Arriving early rewards you with the tranquility and quietude of the Inca City during the early morning hours, creating the perfect atmosphere for capturing stunning photos and experiencing the breathtaking sunrise over Machu Picchu.

After witnessing this magical sunrise, embark on a comprehensive guided tour of Machu Picchu. Delve into its captivating history and explore its most significant buildings and temples. Our expert guide will unveil the secrets and stories behind this ancient wonder, making your experience even more enriching and memorable.

Please note that the Peruvian government has implemented new regulations since 2022, dividing the entrance time into multiple slots throughout the day. Our tour is scheduled between 6:00 am and 10:00 am, ensuring you have ample time to immerse yourself in the wonders of Machu Picchu. If you wish to undertake additional hikes, such as Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, please purchase an extra ticket accordingly.

Once you feel you have fully absorbed the marvels of Machu Picchu, we will take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes for a well-deserved lunch. Before leaving Machu Picchu, ensure you are aware of the designated meeting time and location in Aguas Calientes. Here, you will receive your train tickets for the return journey to Cusco. From there, we'll travel by train to Ollantaytambo, followed by our reliable private transportation that will safely transport you back to your hotel in Cusco.

    Bus Tickets: Take a bus on day one from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes and return on day two from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu for a smooth travel experience.

    Accommodation: Enjoy a hotel stay in Aguas Calientes on the first day, sharing a room with another person. Upgrades can be provided upon request.

    Meals: On the first day, have one dinner and one box lunch. Please let us know about any particular dietary needs or vegetarian preferences during the briefing or during the booking process.

    First Aid Kit: As part of our dedication to your safety, we include a complete first aid kit that includes an emergency oxygen bottle for the first and second days.

    Taxes and fees: We include all taxes and permit costs in our quotes, so there are no extra costs.

    Exclusions

      Travel Insurance: We strongly advise getting comprehensive travel insurance for the security of your vacation.

      Meals: The package does not include the first breakfast on the first day of the journey or the last meal in Aguas Calientes after visiting Machu Picchu.

      Extra expenses: Set up cash for tips and other personal expenses.

      Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain: Choose this option while making your reservation if you want to climb Machu Picchu Mountain or Wayna Picchu. Please be aware that one of these mountain hikes includes an extra $75 per person fee.

        In order to give your body the opportunity to get used to the altitude before the hike, we strongly advise coming at least two days before the tour. Most people can usually acclimate to Cusco (3400m/11,154 ft) in a full day of leisurely walking and heavy drinking of water.

        What to bring

          Ensure you are well-prepared for your trekking adventure with the following essential items:

          Daypack: Make sure you have a suitable backpack for your daypack needs.

          Passport: Remember to bring your original passport for mandatory identification purposes.

          Student Card: If you qualify for a student discount, don't forget your International Student Identity Card (ISIC).

          First Aid Kit: Pack a personal first-aid kit containing any necessary medications.

          Rain Gear: Be ready for rain with gear such as a jacket and pants. Alternatively, you can purchase a rain poncho in Cusco.

          Hiking Boots: Opt for sturdy footwear, preferably walking boots with ankle support. Consider bringing sandals or jogging shoes for added comfort at the campsite.

          Clothing: Include a complete change of clothing, along with a sweater, fleece jacket or shirt, beanie, hat, and gloves for cooler nights. Thermal clothing is recommended, especially for sleeping.

          Water Bottle: Carry metal or Nalgene-type water bottles to stay hydrated.

          Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun's rays. Pack after-sun or hydrating cream for your face and body.

          Hats: Bring a hat or cap to shield yourself from the sun, rain, and cold.

          Insect Repellent: Ward off bugs with insect repellent.

          Snacks: Consider bringing dried fruit, biscuits, chocolate, and energy bars for specific snack preferences not included in our meal services.

          Toilet Paper: Remember to bring toilet paper and handkerchiefs for convenience.

          Camera: Capture the journey with a camera, extra films, and batteries. Note that batteries may deplete more quickly in cold conditions.

          Extra Money: Carry some additional Peruvian soles for purchasing drinks or emergencies.

          Hiking Poles: While optional, walking poles can be beneficial. If using poles with metal spikes on the Inca Trail, bring rubber protection for them.

          Towel: Include a small towel for various purposes, and if you plan on bathing in the hot springs, pack a swimsuit.
