ITINERARY:

Day 1 - 2: Trekking with Llamas to Auroray Cocha

We will arrange for your hotel pickup in Cusco promptly at 5:30 am, and from there, we will embark on a scenic drive through the captivating Sacred Valley of the Incas in our private transportation. Our first stop will be at Urubamba (2870m/9,416ft), where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and acquire any last-minute supplies you may need for the trek.

Continuing our journey, we will drive to the Yanahura-Pucara community (3300m/10,826ft), which serves as the starting point of our trek. As we commence our ascent, we will trek through the breathtaking Mantanay valley, taking in the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the flourishing native vegetation, including the captivating polylepis trees. Along the way, you will encounter streams nourished by lakes and waterfalls.

During our trek, keep an eye out for llamas and alpacas grazing peacefully along the trail, offering a glimpse into the typical high Andean scenery. After a rejuvenating lunch break, we will continue our trek, ascending towards the first picturesque lake, Yuraq Cocha. But the journey doesn't end there; we will make our way to yet another stunning lake, Auroray Cocha (4480m/14,692ft), where we will set up camp for the night.

Day 3: Trekking with Llamas to Patacancha

Following a hearty breakfast, we will begin on a gradual ascent towards the magnificent Huayruruyoc pass (4600m/15,091ft). From this vantage point, you will be treated to awe-inspiring views of the shimmering lake and the majestic mountains that surround it.

Continuing our trek, we will make our way downhill, passing by enchanting lakes that are teeming with diverse bird species. Take this opportunity to observe and appreciate the vibrant wildlife that inhabits these scenic surroundings. Eventually, we will arrive at Patacancha community (3750m/12,303ft), where we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch and spend the night.

Patacancha is a community deeply rooted in the Quechua culture, where the local families engage in traditional agricultural practices and tend to their herds of alpacas and llamas, just as their ancestors did. After lunch, immerse yourself in their rich culture and gain insights into their daily lives. You will have the chance to learn about their time-honored weaving techniques, passed down through generations.

Day 4: Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

After an early breakfast, we will make our way to the train station in Ollantaytambo via our private transportation, with a departure around 7:00 am. Our destination is Km 104, which serves as the starting point for our hike.

As we commence our ascent, we will gradually walk for approximately 4 hours, reaching the remarkable Inca Site known as Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) at an elevation of 2650m/8,694ft. This archaeological marvel consists of an agricultural center adorned with numerous terraces, as well as urban and religious sectors. Along the way, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the Urubamba River valley, accompanied by glimpses of other Inca sites dotting the riverside.

Upon exploring the captivating Inca site, we will continue our journey towards the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) at an elevation of 2720m/8,923ft. This will provide us with our first panoramic view of the iconic Machu Picchu, allowing us ample time to bask in the splendor of this mysterious Inca city at sunset. Subsequently, we will descend to Machu Picchu and take a bus down to Aguas Calientes, where we will indulge in a well-deserved dinner and spend the night.

Day 5: Machu Picchu to Cusco

We will start the day by waking up early and enjoying a satisfying breakfast at the hotel. Our goal is to catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu, as the early morning hours offer a tranquil and serene atmosphere in the ancient city. This early arrival is well worth the effort, as it allows us ample time to capture stunning photographs and witness the mesmerizing sunrise over Machu Picchu.

Following our arrival, a knowledgeable guide will accompany us on a comprehensive tour of Machu Picchu. During this guided exploration, you will learn about the intriguing history of Machu Picchu while visiting its most significant structures and temples.

Our guided tour of Machu Picchu will conclude around 9:30 am. It's important to note that new regulations implemented in 2021 have introduced time slots for entrance to Machu Picchu, which are regulated by the Peruvian government. Our tour is scheduled between 6:00 am and 10:00 am. If you wish to embark on additional hikes within Machu Picchu, such as Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will need to purchase an extra ticket.

After fully immersing yourself in the wonders of Machu Picchu, we will take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where a delicious lunch awaits. Before departing from Machu Picchu, please ensure you are aware of the designated meeting time and location in Aguas Calientes, where you will receive your train tickets for the return journey to Cusco. From there, we will board the train to Ollantaytambo, and our private transportation will transport you to your hotel in Cusco.

    Train Tickets: Experience a scenic train ride from Ollantaytambo to Km104 and back, with a transfer from the train station to your hotel in Cusco.

    Bus Tickets: Travel seamlessly with a bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes on day 3, and a round trip bus between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu on the fourth day.

    Accommodation: On the third night, revel in a hotel stay in Aguas Calientes, with two people sharing one room. Upgrades are available upon request.

    Meals: Enjoy three breakfasts, two lunches, a box lunch on the third day, and three dinners during the trek. We cater to vegetarian meals and special dietary requirements, so please inform us during the booking process or at the briefing.

    Support Staff: Horsemen and horses, as well as llamas, will be at your service to carry tents, food, and cooking equipment.

    Camping Equipment: Each spacious 4-person tent (Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT) will be shared by two people, with ample room for backpacks. You will have one inflatable sleeping pad (Therma-rest) and sleeping bags per person and a dining tent.

    Chef and Cooking Equipment: A skilled cook will prepare delicious meals for you throughout the trek, with all necessary cooking equipment provided in a dedicated cooking tent.

    Hygiene and Water: Warm water will be provided every morning and afternoon for personal hygiene. Filtered and boiled water will be available starting from the second day onwards. We use bio-degradable hand soaps to minimize environmental impact.

    First Aid Kit: A comprehensive first aid kit, including an emergency oxygen bottle for the first and second days, is part of our commitment to your safety.

    Taxes and Fees: Our prices encompass all taxes and permit fees, eliminating any additional financial obligations.

    Exclusions

      Travel Insurance: For your trip's safety, we highly recommend comprehensive travel insurance.

      Meals: The first breakfast at Yanahura on day 1 of the trek and the final lunch in Aguas Calientes after touring Machu Picchu are not included in the package.

      Extra expenses: Allocate a budget for tips and any additional personal spending.

      Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain: For those interested in ascending Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, select this option during the booking process. Please note there is an additional cost of $75 per person for either of these mountain hikes.

        We also provide a 6 or 7 day trip that includes hotels, tours, and a 4 or 5 day trek on the Inca Trail. Everything is handled by us.

        We guarantee perform the tour with small groups. Our minimum group size is only 2 people, with the maximum of 12 people.

        In order to give your body the opportunity to get used to the altitude before the hike, we strongly advise coming at least two days before the tour. Most people can usually acclimate to Cusco (3400m/11,154 ft) in a full day of leisurely walking and heavy drinking of water.

        What to bring

          Ensure you are well-prepared for your trekking adventure with the following essential items:

          Daypack: Make sure you have a suitable backpack for your daypack needs.

          Passport: Remember to bring your original passport for mandatory identification purposes.

          Student Card: If you qualify for a student discount, don't forget your International Student Identity Card (ISIC).

          First Aid Kit: Pack a personal first-aid kit containing any necessary medications.

          Sleeping Bag: If you don't own a sleeping bag, you can rent one from us for $25.

          Rain Gear: Be ready for rain with gear such as a jacket and pants. Alternatively, you can purchase a rain poncho in Cusco.

          Hiking Boots: Opt for sturdy footwear, preferably walking boots with ankle support. Consider bringing sandals or jogging shoes for added comfort at the campsite.

          Clothing: Include a complete change of clothing, along with a sweater, fleece jacket or shirt, beanie, hat, and gloves for cooler nights. Thermal clothing is recommended, especially for sleeping.

          Water Bottle: Carry metal or Nalgene-type water bottles to stay hydrated.

          Flashlight: Don't forget a reliable flashlight or headlamp with spare batteries.

          Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun's rays. Pack after-sun or hydrating cream for your face and body.

          Hats: Bring a hat or cap to shield yourself from the sun, rain, and cold.

          Insect Repellent: Ward off bugs with insect repellent.

          Snacks: Consider bringing dried fruit, biscuits, chocolate, and energy bars for specific snack preferences not included in our meal services.

          Toilet Paper: Remember to bring toilet paper and handkerchiefs for convenience.

          Camera: Capture the journey with a camera, extra films, and batteries. Note that batteries may deplete more quickly in cold conditions.

          Extra Money: Carry some additional Peruvian soles for purchasing drinks or emergencies.

          Hiking Poles: While optional, walking poles can be beneficial. If using poles with metal spikes on the Inca Trail, bring rubber protection for them.

          Towel: Include a small towel for various purposes, and if you plan on bathing in the hot springs, pack a swimsuit.
