Embark on an enlightening afternoon exploration, beginning with a visit to the revered Qoricancha temple. Continue your discovery of the Inca Empire's architectural marvels as you make your way to Saqsayhuaman. DAY 2: A DAY OF CULTURAL EXPLORATION IN THE SACRED VALLEY

Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel at 07:30 am, embarking on a journey that will reveal the wonders of the Sacred Valley. Your first destination is Chinchero, a charming village and the ancestral home of the Quechua people. Immerse yourself in their vibrant culture as you witness traditional dyeing and weaving techniques, passed down through generations. Experience first-hand the intricate craftsmanship that has been preserved over centuries.

Next, venture to the remarkable site of Moray, an essential Inca archaeological complex that served as an agricultural experimentation center. Marvel at the ingenuity of the Incas as you explore the concentric terraces, each varying in microclimates and designed to cultivar different crops. Continue your journey to the awe-inspiring Maras Salt Ponds, a testament to the enduring traditions of local families. DAY 3: START THE INCA TRAIL / OLLANTAYTAMBO / KM 82 TO WAYLLABAMBA.

A Day of Scenic Hiking and Campsite Setup

Today, we embark on an early start to our adventure.  A private transfer will pick you up from your hotel in Ollantaytambo, and together we will journey to Km 82, situated at an elevation of 2700m / 8,858 ft.  This marks the starting point of the legendary Inca Trail, where our unforgettable trek begins.

After a delightful two-hour hike alongside the picturesque Urubamba River, we arrive at Miskay.  Here, we begin our ascent and continue our journey towards Wilkarakay.  As we reach this vantage point, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking views of the Llactapata Inca site.  Witness the remnants of this ancient civilization, surrounded by awe-inspiring natural beauty.

Our trek carries on as we traverse the scenic Cusichaca Valley, gradually ascending for approximately two hours.  The mesmerizing landscapes unfold before us as we make our way towards our campsite for the night, located in Wayllabamba at an elevation of 3100m / 10,170ft.  Take a moment to set up camp and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the surroundings.

Day 4: INCA TRAIL / WAYLLABAMBA TO PACAYMAYU

Conquering the Inca Trail: A Day of Striking Landscapes and Achievement

Fuel up with an early breakfast, as today promises to be an exhilarating day of trekking. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey as you set out towards the highest point of the Inca Trail.

As you ascend, be prepared to witness remarkable views and experience a noticeable shift in vegetation. Marvel at the dramatic changes in the landscape, as you make your way through the enchanting cloud forest adorned with native trees. The trail will lead you to a momentous milestone—the renowned Dead Woman's Pass, standing proudly at an elevation of 4215m / 13,828ft. Take a moment to absorb the magnificent panoramic views of the Pacaymayu Valley and the majestic mountains that surround you.

After basking in the splendor of the pass, begin your descent towards the campsite at Pacaymayu, nestled at an altitude of 3600m / 11,811ft. Along the way, revel in the picturesque scenery that unfolds before you, creating a truly immersive experience. Allow the tranquil beauty of the surroundings to captivate your senses, as you appreciate the magnitude of your journey thus far.

DAY 5: INCA TRAIL / PACAYMAYU TO WIÑAYWAYNA

After an early breakfast, we set out on our trek to the majestic Runkurakay pass, reaching an elevation of 3950m / 12,959 ft. Along the way, we stop to appreciate the Runkurakay archaeological site, offering breathtaking views of the valley below. Immerse yourself in the ancient ruins and imagine the lives of those who once inhabited this remarkable place.

Continuing our journey, we venture towards the Sayamarka archaeological site, another testament to the ingenuity of the Inca civilization. Take a moment to explore the ruins and deepen your understanding of their historical significance.

As we trek onwards, we reach the third pass, Phuyupatamarka, standing at 3680 m / 12,073 ft. From this vantage point, feast your eyes upon the panoramic views of the Urubamba Valley and the majestic Machu Picchu Mountain in the distance. Let the beauty of the surrounding landscape leave an indelible impression on your memory.

After immersing ourselves in the wonders of the Inca site, we begin our descent, following stone steps into the enchanting cloud forest. As we make our way to Wiñayhuyna, situated at 2650m / 8,694 ft, we become one with the lush vegetation that surrounds us. This will be our final campsite for the night, providing a serene and peaceful setting to rest and reflect on the day's adventures.

DAY 6: INCA TRAIL / WIÑAYWAYNA TO MACHUPICCHU

After an early breakfast, we embark on the final leg of our trek towards the legendary Machu Picchu. As we make our way, anticipation fills the air, knowing that the culmination of our journey is within reach.

We reach Intipunku, also known as the Sun Gate, situated at 2720 m / 8,923 ft. From this vantage point, panoramic views of Machu Picchu unfold before our eyes. Take a moment to absorb the grandeur of this iconic site, feeling a sense of awe and reverence for the ancient civilization that created it.

A swift descent along the wide Inca Road brings us closer to the classic view of the enigmatic Machu Picchu, nestled at an altitude of 2400m / 7,874ft. Behold the breathtaking sight of this architectural marvel, surrounded by the mountains and mist-shrouded landscapes… The mystique and allure of Machu Picchu come to life as you stand in its presence.

With your knowledgeable guide leading the way, embark on an immersive exploration of these impressive Inca ruins. After the guided tour, we descend to Aguas Calientes, where a well-deserved lunch awaits. Savor the flavors of the region, reflecting on the extraordinary journey you have undertaken. From Aguas Calientes, we board a train to Ollantaytambo and then continue by private transportation to your hotel in Cusco.

      Airline tickets: Please note that airline tickets are not included in the package. It is the responsibility of the traveler to arrange their own flights to and from Cusco.

      Sleeping bags: If you don't have your own sleeping bag, we offer the option to rent them for $25.

      Tips and extra spending: While tipping is not mandatory, it is customary to show appreciation for exceptional service. Consider budgeting for tips for your guide, cook, porters, and any other staff who have made your journey memorable. Additionally, keep some extra spending money for souvenirs, snacks, or any personal expenses you may incur along the way.

      Tickets for Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain: If you wish to enhance your Machu Picchu experience by climbing either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, these tickets can be added to your itinerary for an additional cost of USD 75. Kindly note that availability is limited, so it is advisable to inform us in advance if you are interested in adding this option to your tour.

        In order to give your body the opportunity to get used to the altitude before the hike, we strongly advise coming at least two days before the tour. Most people can usually acclimate to Cusco (3400m/11,154 ft) in a full day of leisurely walking and heavy drinking of water.

        What to bring

          To ensure you have a comfortable and well-prepared journey, consider the following items to include in your packing list:

          Backpack for your daypack: Carry a sturdy backpack to hold your essential items during day trips and hikes.

          Original passport (mandatory): Don't forget to bring your original passport, as it is necessary for various entry requirements and permits.

          International Student Identity Card (ISIC): If you are a student and eligible for a student discount, bring your valid ISIC card to avail of any applicable discounts.

          Personal first-aid kit and necessary medications: It's important to have a personal first-aid kit that includes basic medical supplies and any prescribed medications you may require.

          Sleeping bag: If you prefer to use your own sleeping bag, please bring it along. Alternatively, you can rent one from us for a fee of $25.

          Rain gear or rain poncho: Prepare for inclement weather by bringing a waterproof jacket and pants or a rain poncho. Plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco if needed.

          Strong footwear: Opt for sturdy walking boots with ankle support to ensure comfortable and safe hiking. Additionally, pack a pair of sandals or jogging shoes for added comfort at the campsite.

          Change of clothing and thermal layers: Pack a complete change of clothing, including a sweater, jacket, fleece, beanie, hat, and gloves for colder nights. Consider thermal clothing for added warmth while sleeping.

          Water bottles: Carry metal or Nalgene-type water bottles to stay hydrated throughout your journey. It's essential to have access to clean drinking water.

          Flashlight/headlamp and batteries: Bring a reliable flashlight or headlamp along with extra batteries to navigate in low-light conditions.

          Sunscreen and after-sun cream: Protect your skin from the sun's rays by applying sunscreen. Additionally, pack after-sun cream or hydrating cream to soothe and moisturize your face and body.

          Hat or cap: Shield yourself from the sun, rain, and cold by wearing a hat or cap during your outdoor activities.

          Insect repellent: Keep pesky insects at bay by using insect repellent to ensure a comfortable experience.

          Snacks and energy bars: While we provide comprehensive meals, you may want to pack some additional snacks such as dried fruit, biscuits, chocolates, or energy bars to have during breaks or for personal preferences.

          Toilet paper and handkerchiefs: Carry toilet paper and handkerchiefs for personal hygiene purposes during your trek.

          Camera, films, and extra batteries: Capture your memorable moments by bringing a camera, extra film rolls, and spare batteries. Note that batteries may drain more quickly in cold conditions.

          Emergency cash in Peruvian soles: Keep some extra cash on hand for purchasing drinks or for emergencies during your trip.

          Walking poles (optional): If you prefer using walking poles, consider bringing them along. If your poles have metal spikes, remember to bring rubber protection for usage on the Inca Trail.

          Small towel: Pack a compact towel for personal use during the trek.
