ITINERAY:

Day 1: Cusco - KM 82 to Wayllabamba

Prepare for an unforgettable journey as we pick you up from your hotel bright and early at 5:30 am. After leaving Cusco in our comfortable private transportation, we'll embark on a scenic drive through the renowned Sacred Valley, passing by captivating destinations such as Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.

Approximately 2 ½ hours later, we'll reach "km 82," the starting point of the legendary Inca Trail. Along the way, our bus will make a 30-minute stop in Ollantaytambo, allowing you to enjoy breakfast or purchase snacks and drinks for the adventure ahead.

By around 09:00 am, you'll find yourself crossing the Urubamba River, following its left bank for approximately 1 ½ hours. As you begin your ascent to Wilka Rakay, prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking view of the magnificent Inca site Patallapta and the picturesque Kusichaca Valley.

The subsequent descent to Kusichaca river is an easy one, leading you to our first campsite with stunning views of the snow-capped Urubamba Mountain range. Marvel at the majestic Peak Veronica or Wakay Wilka, reaching a staggering height of 5750 m (18,864 ft).

Continuing along the enchanting Kusichaca Valley, we'll arrive at Wayllabamba (3100 m/10,170 ft), our campsite for the night. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of this location, surrounded by awe-inspiring landscapes that epitomize the spirit of the Inca Trail.

Day 2: Wayllabamba to Pacaymayu

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast to kickstart your day full of adventure. We'll begin by embarking on a 1-hour ascent to Tres Piedras (The Three Stones), a remarkable landmark on the trail. As we venture further, the captivating cloud forest envelops us, showcasing its natural beauty.

After approximately 2 hours of trekking through breathtaking vegetation, we'll break through the tree line, arriving at Llulluchapampa (3800 m/12,467 ft). Take a well-deserved pause and recharge with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee, accompanied by delicious sandwiches. This rejuvenating break will prepare you for the upcoming challenge.

Get ready for an exhilarating 1 ½ hour hike to the pinnacle of the Inca Trail – Abra Warmihuñusca, also known as Dead Woman's Pass (4215 m/13,828 ft). Along the way, you'll traverse vast grassy landscapes, surrounded by the predominant flora of this section. The effort will be rewarded as you conquer the highest point of the trail.

Once we reach the summit, a moment of celebration awaits. Together, we'll revel in the accomplishment of conquering the most challenging part of the Inca Trail. Capture the memories and embrace the sense of achievement before descending for the next leg of the journey.

The following 2 hours will be spent descending to the base camp in Pacaymayo (3600m/11,811 ft), where we'll spend our second night. Take in the majestic surroundings and immerse yourself in the tranquility of this campsite, surrounded by nature's wonders.

Day 3: Pacaymayu to Phuyupatamarka

After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on another ascent, following the original paved trail constructed by the Incas. The adventure begins with a 40-minute hike from Pacaymayu to Runkurakay, a captivating archaeological site offering panoramic views of the Pacaymayu valley.

Continuing onward, a 45-minute trek leads us to the apex of the second pass, Abra Runkurakay (3950m/12,959 ft). As we descend for approximately 1 hour, we arrive at Sayacmarka (3500m/11,482 ft), a site nestled within the magnificent cloud forest. Prepare to be mesmerized by the lush surroundings, adorned with vibrant orchids, hanging moss, ferns, and native flowers.

A 30-minute journey takes us past the small Inca site of Conchamarka, eventually leading us to our lunch spot at Chaquicocha (3550m/11,646 ft). Here, you'll have the opportunity to refuel and recharge amidst the picturesque landscapes.

Continuing our trail towards Phuyupatamarka (3680m/12,073 ft), we follow a paved stone path for approximately 1 ½ hours. Along the way, we pass through an impressive Inca tunnel carved into the rocks. From the summit, be prepared to be awe-inspired by the panoramic view, featuring the snow-capped peaks of Salkantay (6271m/20,574 ft) and Machu Picchu Mountain.

As we reach the campsite for the night, prepare to indulge in the captivating sunset and sunrise views from this elevated location. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the rich history, natural beauty, and tranquility of this remarkable setting.

Day 4: Witness the Majestic Sunrise and Arrive at the Marvelous Machu Picchu

Rise early to savor a delightful breakfast and witness the enchanting sunrise from the vantage point of Phuyupatamarka. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the landscape, you'll be captivated by the breathtaking beauty that surrounds you.

After breakfast, we begin our descent into the lush cloud forest, following the ancient Inca steps that lead us to Wiñay Wayna (2650m/8,694 ft). Take your time to explore this remarkable Inca site, marveling at its architectural wonders and immersing yourself in its historical significance.

Continuing for approximately 1 hour, we reach 'Inti Punku' (Sun Gate) at 2720m/8,923 ft. Here, you'll have your first panoramic view of the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu (2400m/7,874 ft). Take a moment to soak in the grandeur of this ancient citadel, as the view from this vantage point is truly unforgettable.

After capturing postcard-worthy pictures, we descend to Machu Picchu itself. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you to the classic spot that offers a fantastic view of the entire archaeological site. Immerse yourself in the mystical ambiance, learn about the history, and appreciate the architectural marvels that make Machu Picchu an enduring wonder of the world.

Once we've explored Machu Picchu to our heart's content, we'll board a bus that will take us down to Aguas Calientes (2040m/6,692 ft), where we'll spend the night. Relax and rejuvenate in this charming town, reflecting on the incredible journey you've undertaken.

Day 5: Unforgettable Morning at Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco

Start your day with an early wake-up call, allowing you to indulge in a delicious breakfast at the hotel before embarking on an extraordinary experience. We'll ensure you are among the first to arrive at Machu Picchu by taking one of the early buses. This strategic decision is well worth the effort, as it allows you to witness the tranquil beauty of Machu Picchu in the early morning and capture breathtaking photos of the sunrise over this ancient citadel.

Once inside Machu Picchu, our expert guide will lead you on a comprehensive tour, providing intriguing insights into the history and significance of the site. You'll have the opportunity to explore the most important buildings and temples, immersing yourself in the fascinating world of the Incas.

Please note that starting in 2021, the Peruvian government implemented new rules that divide the entrance times into several slots per day. Our tour includes the time slot between 06:00 am to 10:00 am. If you wish to embark on additional hikes within Machu Picchu, such as Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, separate tickets need to be purchased.

After you feel satisfied that you have explored every corner of Machu Picchu, we'll take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where a well-deserved lunch awaits. Before departing from Machu Picchu, we will provide you with the necessary information regarding the time and location of the meeting point in Aguas Calientes, where you will collect your train tickets for the return journey to Cusco.

Relax and enjoy the scenic train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to take you directly to your hotel in Cusco. Reflect on the incredible memories and experiences you've gathered throughout this remarkable journey.

    Pre-Trek Briefing and Duffel Bag Distribution: Two days before your departure, we will conduct a comprehensive trek briefing at your hotel. During the briefing, you will receive a duffel bag that will be carried by our porters throughout the hike. Please note that the duffel bag should not exceed 6 kg/13 lb (pounds). You will only need to carry a small daypack with essential items such as rain gear, warm fleece, water bottle, and camera.

    Expert Local Guides: Our professional guides are local experts who grew up in the region. They are fluent in both English and Spanish and possess extensive knowledge of Peruvian and Inca history, traditions, as well as the local flora and fauna. They are passionate about sharing their expertise with you, enriching your trekking experience.

    Permits and Entrance Fees: As a licensed Inca Trail tour operator, we will handle the purchase of your permits. You can rest assured that everything is taken care of once we receive your request and deposit.

    Transportation: Our comprehensive transportation services include private transport from Cusco to the trailhead at km82, bus tickets from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, train tickets from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo (Expedition tourist train), and private transportation from Ollantaytambo back to your hotel in Cusco. We will provide seamless pick-up and drop-off services, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

    Nourishing Meals: Throughout your trek, we will provide four breakfasts, four lunches, and four dinners. Our meals feature a variety of delicious options, including pancakes, omelets, soups, fresh fruits, chicken, fish, meat, rice, pasta, and hot beverages such as coca leaf tea, known for its effectiveness against altitude sickness. Additionally, we offer a tea time every afternoon, featuring tea, coffee, biscuits, and popcorn. We can accommodate vegetarian meals and cater to special dietary requirements upon prior notice or during the pre-trek briefing.

    Hygiene and Drinking Water: To maintain hygiene standards, we provide warm water for personal cleaning and bio-degradable hand soap at the campsite every morning and afternoon. You can also enjoy safe drinking water, as we filter and boil the water to fill your water bottles.

    Talented Chef: Be prepared to be amazed by the culinary skills of our chef. We prioritize serving high-quality food, ensuring a memorable dining experience amidst the wilderness.

    Porters: Our service includes a personal porter who will carry your personal equipment such as a mattress, sleeping bag, and extra clothing while you hike to the campsite. The weight of your duffel bag should not exceed 6 kg/13 lb (pounds). We also provide porters to carry the tents, food, and cooking equipment, ensuring your comfort throughout the trek.

    Camping Equipment: During the trek, two individuals will share a spacious four-person tent (Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT) that offers ample space for your backpacks. Each person will be provided with an inflatable sleeping pad or air mattress to place under their sleeping bag. We also supply cooking equipment, a dining tent, and a kitchen tent.

    Accommodation: On the fourth day, you will be accommodated in a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes. Each room is based on two people sharing. Upgrades are available upon request.

    First Aid Kit and Emergency Oxygen: Your safety is our priority. Our trek includes a comprehensive first aid kit, including an emergency oxygen bottle, to address any unforeseen circumstances.

    Taxes and Fees: We are transparent with our pricing. All taxes and permit fees are included in the prices we quote, ensuring a hassle-free experience for you.

Tips are not included in the tour price, so feel free to show your appreciation based on your satisfaction with the service provided.

      Ticket for Wayna Picchu: For those interested in climbing Wayna Picchu, a majestic peak overlooking Machu Picchu, this option is available at an additional cost of USD 75 per person. Please note that securing a spot for this hike cannot be guaranteed, as availability is limited. We strongly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot for this incredible experience.

      Extra Spending: While our tour package covers most of the essential expenses, there may be additional spending options during your journey. These could include personal souvenirs, snacks, drinks, or any other items you may wish to purchase during the trek. It's always a good idea to have some extra cash on hand for these discretionary expenses.

          Essential Items for Your Trekking Daypack:

          Backpack: A comfortable and sturdy backpack is essential for carrying your day-to-day belongings and personal items throughout the trek.

          Original Passport: Please ensure you bring your original passport, as it is mandatory for entry to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu.

          International Student Identity Card (ISIC): If you are eligible for a student discount, remember to bring your valid ISIC card for verification.

          Personal First-Aid Kit and Medications: It is recommended to carry a personal first-aid kit with essential medications and any specific medicines you may require during the trek.

          Sleeping Bag: If you don't have your own, we offer the option to rent a sleeping bag from us for a fee of $25. Alternatively, you can bring your own.

          Rain Gear: Be prepared for changing weather conditions by bringing a rain jacket and pants or a rain poncho. Plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco if needed.

          Strong Footwear: Walking boots with ankle support are highly recommended to ensure a comfortable and secure trekking experience. Sandals or jogging shoes can be brought for added comfort while at the campsite.

          Change of Clothing: Pack a complete set of clothing, including a sweater, fleece jacket or shirt, beanie, hat, and gloves for the colder nights. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping.

          Water Bottles: Carry reusable water bottles such as metal or Nalgene types to stay hydrated throughout the trek. Remember to fill them with filtered or boiled water provided by our team.

          Flashlight/Headlamp and Batteries: A reliable flashlight or headlamp is essential for navigating during early mornings or evenings. Remember to bring extra batteries.

          Sunscreen and After-Sun Cream: Protect your skin from the sun's rays by applying sunscreen. Additionally, bring after-sun cream or hydrating cream to nourish your face and body.

          Hat or Cap: Shield yourself from the sun, rain, and cold with a hat or cap that provides adequate protection.

          Insect Repellent: Keep pesky insects at bay by applying insect repellent to exposed skin.

          Snacks: While we provide comprehensive meal services, you may wish to bring your own snacks such as dried fruit, biscuits, chocolate, or energy bars for additional sustenance during the trek.

          Toilet Paper and Handkerchiefs: Carry a small supply of toilet paper and handkerchiefs for personal hygiene.

          Camera and Extra Batteries: Capture unforgettable moments with your camera, and don't forget to pack extra batteries as they tend to deplete faster in cold conditions.

          Emergency Money: Carry some extra Peruvian soles for purchasing drinks or in case of emergencies.

          Walking Poles: If you prefer using walking poles, you can bring them along. However, please ensure they have rubber protection to prevent damage to the Inca Trail.

          Small Towel: A compact towel can come in handy for personal hygiene or quick cleanups.

          Swimsuit: If you wish to indulge in a refreshing bath in the hot springs, don't forget to pack your swimsuit.
