4-Day Short Inca Trail & Sacred Valley Tour

The Most Strategic Way to Experience Machu Picchu

Experience the perfect blend of Andean history and physical triumph. Our 4-Day Short Inca Trail and Sacred Valley Expedition is engineered for travelers who value safety, cultural depth, and the iconic "Sun Gate" entrance.

Unlike standard tours, we prioritize physiological acclimatization by beginning in the Sacred Valley. This ensures you are at your physical peak for the 13km hike through the cloud forest, arriving at the Sun Gate in the golden afternoon light—long after the morning crowds have dispersed.

Expedition Highlights

Sunset at the Sun Gate: Arrive at Intipunku in the late afternoon for a rare, uncrowded view of the Citadel.

Acclimatization First: Two days of gentle exploration in Cusco and the Sacred Valley before the trek.

Inca Engineering: Deep-dives into Moray’s agricultural terraces and the megalithic stones of Saqsayhuaman.

Small Group Guarantee: Intimate groups (max 12) led by veteran local guides.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Imperial Cusco: Foundations of an Empire

Welcome to Cusco (3,400m). Your journey begins with a focused exploration of the city’s most significant Inca sites.

Qoricancha: The "Golden Temple" and religious epicenter of the Incas.

Saqsayhuaman: A masterclass in megalithic architecture and stone masonry.

Leisure: A slow-paced afternoon to allow your body to adjust to the altitude.

Day 2 | The Sacred Valley: Pre-Trek Preparation

Travel into the heart of the Sacred Valley. This day is designed to drop in altitude (2,800m) to optimize your oxygen levels.

Chinchero: Visit traditional Quechua weaving collectives.

Moray & Maras: Explore the circular agricultural laboratories and ancient salt evaporation ponds.

Ollantaytambo: Scale the fortress of the last living Inca town before an overnight stay.

Day 3 | The Short Inca Trail: Into the Cloud Forest

The trek begins. A scenic train ride to Km 104 brings us to the trailhead.

The Hike: A 13km (8-mile) ascent through pristine cloud forests and past the Wiñaywayna ruins.

The Reward: Reach the Sun Gate (2,720m) for your first panoramic look at Machu Picchu.

Rest: Descend to Aguas Calientes for a high-protein dinner and a 3-star hotel stay.

Day 4 | Machu Picchu: The Private Grand Tour

The finale of your journey. An early start ensures we witness the Citadel in the morning light.
