Day 1: Maras Moray - Salineras - Aguas Calientes
Pick up time will be at 07:00 am. In our private transport we drive to Chinchero town, located 30 km from the city of Cusco. We continue our route to Maras, about 7 kms southwest from Maras is Moray, a very unique archaeological site in the region. Enormous natural holes in the ground surface were used for constructing irrigated farming terraces around them. What is surprising is the annual average temperature difference between the top and the bottom. It can be up to 15 °C (59°F) between the top and the bottom which is about 30 m deep. In these natural formations, nature has created environmental condition of micro climates. Towards the northwest of Maras village are the famous Salt mines, where considerable volume of solid salt is obtained. You will see 10cm of pure salt on the floor. That solid salt is granulated, then packed in sacks and send to the local markets. After visiting these two important places we will drive to Urubamba town to have lunch. Later we continue to Ollantaytambo where we will visit the Inca site situated on a hill-top landscape with surrounding terraces and with cyclopean rock carving. Once we have visited the Inca Site, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes at 15:37 pm and arrive there at 17:02 pm. We'll do the hotel check-in and then evening is free for whatever you are up to.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
We wake up early in the morning; have breakfast in the hotel and then take one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. There is one good reason to be at the entrance of MachuPicchu early. It is well worth the effort to get up early as the Inca City is quietest in the early morning and we will have plenty of time to take photos and enjoyed the sun rise over Machu Picchu. Of course our guide will take you to the classic spot to take your post card pictures. This vantage point offers a terrific view of the whole complex, and then our Guide will give you a tour around MachuPicchu telling you about the history of MachuPicchu and the most important buildings.
After that you will have a free time to explore the site on your own again. Once you feel that you have seen every corner of Machu Picchu you will take a bus down to the village of Aguas Calientes to have lunch. Make sure that, before you leave MachuPicchu by bus, the guides give you time and location of meeting place in Aguas Calientes where you will get your train tickets back to Cusco.
